In 2020, Lynn Jones-Turpin, Jacksonville’s Voice of Heart and Heritage launched ProTalks Florida, a not-for-profit driven, health outreach initiative designed to inform African Americans about prostate cancer. The purpose of this health equity program is to inform, educate and empower community members to become cancer advocates in Florida and in California. In 2026, our core objectives are to expand the dialogue across media sectors to: increase manpower for cancer research advocacy; strengthen the network of cancer research advocates; and increase multi-directional communication between cancer advocates with cancer survivors, community members, academic scientists and policy makers.
